Mga sermon ni tatay that'll have you rethink your spending

Updated: Jun 14

Malapit na Father’s Day! Kuripot din ba mga Tatay niyo?

8 sermons ni tatay that will have you rethink your spending

Father’s Day is just around the corner, meaning galante na naman si Tatay manlibre sa Linggo cause there’s no other person in our lives more extravagant than our dads! Kahit kuripot siya most of the time, his kuripot-ness is a wonderful trait kasi aminin mo, ikaw din naman ang nagbe-benefit when he wants to splurge!

Isipin mo na lang that he has major reasons for holding on to his hard earned money kaya ‘di ka dapat maging bitter ‘pag ‘di ka niya binibigyan tuwing humihinga ka.

Mukha lang nagi-investigate siya but this line teaches the importance of accountability and responsibility. Tatay just wants to make sure we’re safe and making good choices.

“Pumirme ka sa bahay. ‘Wag ipilit maglakwatsa ‘pag walang pera.”

In short, he’s just telling you to live within your means — no matter what your age is! Ever since bata palang ata ako, eto naririnig ko kay Tatay tuwing nagpapaalam ako gumala. Kayo rin ba?

”Itanong mo sa Mama mo, ‘nak.”

Tatay may be the provider in the household but he’s man enough to admit that Mama is in charge of all the decision-making, including financial matters. It shows us how crucial it is to talk openly and respect each other in the family, making sure everyone’s voice gets heard.

So, be mindful of your financial limitations. Tipid-tipid din kung kaya.

“Tumulong ka kahit mahirap lang tayo.”

Di naman tinutukoy na tumulong tayo sa kapwa through financial means ‘cause there are many other ways to show support to those who have it harder than us.

But sometimes, those sacrifices never really lived up to their potential… Kaya let’s do what we can to the best of our abilities and give ourselves the life we deserve, one where we wouldn’t have to endure hardships in the future.

On the flip side, meron din naman mga Tatay na ginapang ang kanilang mga pamilya and are now enjoying the fruits of their hardships. This line is both a reflection on past struggles and an appreciation of the comforts we have now. So let’s not take it for granted.

These lines may sound rehearsed kasi paulit-ulit niya ‘to sinasabi but these are steady proof that Tatay always knows how to make the most out of everything.

As we manage our budgets and navigate life’s challenges, may we always remember these melodramatic lines as reminders of our dads’ many sacrifices.

Happy Father’s Day!
